Shalom House Retreat Center

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened and I will give you rest.     Matthew 11:28

Rooted in the gospel message of Jesus Christ, Shalom House extends warm hospitality to all who visit.  The tranquility and natural surroundings at Shalom House are a perfect place for prayer, meditation, reflection and renewal.  It is a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can experience the creative power of God individually and in community.

Shalom House provides a quiet pastoral setting for a variety of retreat experiences.  It is ideal for an individual retreat or for churches or other organizations to present their own retreats for their members.  Time commitments vary from one day to more than a week.

We invite you to explore this website and to experience Shalom House and the grounds through the photo gallery.   We hope that you will consider us for your next retreat.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a retreat, please feel free to contact us.

Shalom House is located in rural western Hanover County, Virginia.  Situated on 100 acres, it is 25 miles northwest of Richmond, Virginia.

The grounds include a three-acre pond, a meditation path with Stations of the Cross, screened gazebo and many quiet places to sit.  The two guest houses provide accommodations for 32 people.  Each guest house has a central meeting space and small kitchenette.  Shalom House has one single-bed, heated Hermitage.

The renovated original farmhouse includes a 54-seat dining hall with fireplace, cathedral ceilings and a large deck overlooking the pond.  There are four additional guest rooms in the farmhouse.  We can house a total of 36 people.

All three buildings are air-conditioned and handicap accessible.
